Passengers at Tonbridge will no longer have to visit the temporary ticket office in Barden Road after Southeastern completed the refurbishment of the permanent ticket office in late April 2016. This has included installing new larger ticket windows which they hope will create a more welcoming environment and give a clearer view of which window is staffed.
These works were initiated after Tonbridge Line Commuters complained about the queuing arrangements in the booking hall at Tonbridge station. In the morning rush hour passengers lining up to buy a ticket often end up blocking the entry of commuters trying to get to the barriers, while the hundreds of school children exiting the station only add to the chaos. We therefore requested that a single line post office queuing system was put in place. As part of the ticket office project, Southeastern has ordered a temporary barrier which can be put up to provide a single queue at busy times. We are looking forward to seeing this in action.
In the meantime, Station Manager Michelle Harris is to be congratulated on a successful project and we wish her and her team well in their new working environment.
