Committee Members

Chair: Kathy Pratt
Kathy Pratt used to commute regularly from Hildenborough to Waterloo East and continues to travel to London and elsewhere from time to time. She is an active member of the Hildenborough local community, and keeps a careful watch on the services and facilities at Hildenborough station.

Vice-Chair: John Reynolds
John Reynolds commuted between Tonbridge, Hildenborough and London from 1967 to 2009 (apart from a 4 year spell in France and 11 months of semi-retirement). On the committee since 1989 (Chairman 2003-8), he now spends more time on off-peak trains and is particularly anxious to improve Eurostar's Ashford operations and the route between Tonbridge and Gatwick.

Honorary Secretary: John Morton
John commutes daily from Tonbridge to Charing Cross and also uses the train for leisure travel at the weekend. He joined TLC soon after moving to Tonbridge in 2008 and now forms the "youth wing" of the committee. John believes there should be a reliable train service seven days a week all year round, and has been campaigning on the issue of train services over Christmas. He likes writing to MPs and the media - occasionally with some success.

Membership Secretary: Steve Terry
Steve has been a member of TLC since 1989 and regularly travels into London from Paddock Wood. Because of his job as a Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity manager, Steve usually has something to say about the way the train operators handle (or not!) service disruption and incidents.

Treasurer: Lionel Shields
Lionel has worked in public transport for most of his life and joined the Association's Committee soon after moving to Tonbridge in 1972. He has since held the position of Treasurer, Vice Chairman, and Chairman (from 1987 to 2003), and currently carries out the posts of Secretary and Acting Treasurer. During this time he has put together the group's view on many official consultative documents. He also edits the Association's twice-yearly bulletin 'Travel Topics'. Since retiring from full-time work he travels to London on a regular basis to assist at the LT Museum.

Committee member: Terry Hines
Joining the Association and Committee in 1985, Terry commuted between Tonbridge and Cannon Street for 13 years. As the, now retired, Chief Highway Engineer to the Corporation of London, he provides us with a professional approach to road proposals in the Tonbridge area. Since retiring in 1998 he has monitored, and at times, influenced local bus and off peak rail services. Along with Lionel, Terry hosts committee meetings and organises the printing and distribution of your newsletter, Travel Topics.

Committee member: Robert Mansfield
Robert moved to Hildenborough in 2016 and joined TLC shortly afterwards. He commutes daily into London Bridge/Cannon Street and also uses the trains on weekends. He moved to the area from Croydon where he was a long term sufferer at the hands of Southern rail.
