The Department for Transport has produced a 100 page document concerning rail fares and ticketing review. The main points appear to be the DfT's intention to push ahead with ITSO smart cards across the whole rail network, discussion on opening hours of ticket offices, discussion on making better use of "shoulder peak" trains, and a potential for a wider range of tickets. TLC will be responding to the DfT Rail fares and ticketing review by the deadline of 28th June 2012.
We encourage our members to send comments to the DfT too. More information on the consultation is available from the DfT website here.
